How to Find Your Perfect Bra Fit at Home

Three measurements, five minutes and a soft tape measure — everything you need to finally find a bra that fits.

Studies regularly suggest that most women are wearing the wrong bra size. The good news? Finding the right one takes about five minutes and a soft measuring tape.

1. Measure your band

Wrap the tape snugly around your ribcage, directly under your bust. Keep it level all the way around and breathe normally. Round to the nearest whole inch — that is your band.

2. Measure your bust

Now measure loosely around the fullest part of your bust. Do not pull the tape tight — it should just rest against you.

3. Do the math

Subtract your band from your bust. Each inch of difference is one cup size: 1 inch is an A, 2 is a B, 3 is a C, and so on.

The fit check

  • The band sits level across your back and feels snug on the loosest hook.
  • The center of the bra lies flat against your sternum.
  • Cups are smooth — no gaping at the top, no spilling over the edges.
  • Straps stay put without digging in. Remember: the band does the work, not the straps.
